***SOME BIG CHANGES THIS YEAR - PLEASE SEE READ CAREFULLY:

***DUE TO ALCOHOL BEVERAGE CONTROL LAWS HERE IN CALIFORNIA, SIERRA NEVADA BREWERY IS NO LONGER ALLOWED TO GIVE OUT BEER TO THE WINNERS OF THIS EVENT. HOWEVER, $35 SIERRA NEVADA GIFT CARDS WILL BE GIVEN OUT - BUT, AGAIN UNFORTUNATELY, CAN NOT BE USED TO PURCHASE BEER. SORRY - THIS IS AN ABC LAW/REGULATION, NOT SIERRA NEVADA BREWERY - BUT THE BREWERY MUST ABIDE BY THE ABC LAWS & REGULATIONS. THE GIFT CARDS CAN BE USED TO PURCHASE ITEMS IN THEIR GIFT SHOP, OR TO PURCHASE A MEAL IN THEIR RESTAURANT.

**********If you win a $35 Gift Card from Sierra Nevada Brewery, they will be available for pick-up at the Sierra Nevada Gift Shop starting one week AFTER the event!!!!! This means Monday, October 6th, 2014 - PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THE GIFT SHOP EARLIER THAN OCTOBER 6TH, 2014 AS THEY NEED TIME TO GATHER THE RESULTS, GET THE GIFT CARDS PRINTED OUT AND ORGANIZED. ID will be required at the Sierra Nevada Gift Shop in order to pick-up your Gift Card.

YES - This is the BIG ONE - THE most popular Hill Climb Time Trial of the entire year!!! A HUGE Thank You to our sponsor - Sierra Nevada Brewery  for sponsoring this awesome Uphill Time Trial each year!!!

If your time beats your age, you win a $35 gift card from Sierra Nevada Brewery(which can be used to purchase items in their gift shop or restaurant - but no beer). Unfortunately, NO cash prizes this year.....sorry, but my extremely limited budget will not allow me to give out cash this year. I am sorry. :(  If any company or individual would like to step up to offer cash prizes to the Top 3 Men & Women in the competition, please e-mail me at RodneyJCox@gmail.com.

This event is FREE to enter! No, no membership in any club is necessary, so come on out! Registration will open at 8:00AM at the corner of Bruce Road and Hwy. 32 - come EARLY if you want to get an early start on the climb......we usually have between 60 to 80 riders at this event. I will probably be there around 7:30AM to set up the registration table........but, for this year, NO early sign-ups, so start a line - sign-up will start at 8AM. Ice water, bananas and cookies will be provided at the finish. We will have ice water and bananas at the start as well.

The first rider will take off at 9:01am and we will go in 1-minute intervals, as we've done since the beginning. The climb itself is about 11.2 miles in length and climbs approximately 2,100 feet. For a map of the Forest Ranch Time Trial course, please see the map on this page.

HELD RAIN OR SHINE!
HELMETS ARE MANDATORY!

***IMPORTANT RACE NOTES:

****As mentioned above, due to Alcohol Beverage Control laws/regulations in the State of California, NO beer will be given out by the Brewery - nor can the $35 Sierra Nevada Gift Cards be used to purchase beer. The ABC has been really cracking down on breweries in the last few years, and Sierra Nevada MUST abide by all the laws & regulations set forth by the ABC. I am sorry - PLEASE don't blame Sierra Nevada or complain to them - they are just following the law.

****RACE NUMBERS WILL BE ISSUED THIS YEAR, SO PLEASE PIN YOUR NUMBER ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF YOUR JERSEY SO WE CAN SEE IT AT THE FINISH LINE! A LIMITED NUMBER OF PINS WILL BE AVAILABLE, SO PLEASE USE SPARINGLY. ALSO, NO NUMBER AT THE FINISH = NO RESULT. SORRY. AND PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, DO NOT FOLD OR CUT YOUR NUMBER - IF I CAN'T READ YOUR NUMBER AT THE FINISH, NO RESULT WILL BE ISSUED...NO EXCEPTIONS.

****PLEASE NOTE: REGISTRATION WILL CLOSE PROMPTLY AT 8:59AM!!! NO LATE REGISTRANTS THIS YEAR. YOU CAN COME EARLY, SIGN UP, THEN HEAD BACK HOME OR WARM-UP AROUND STARTING AREA....BUT PLEASE DON'T BE LATE FOR YOUR START TIME. NEW THIS YEAR AS WELL - ANY RIDER "CUTTING" IN LINE AND RIDING ON THEIR OWN WILL NOT BE IN FINAL RESULTS - SORRY...TOO MUCH CONFUSION IN PREVIOUS YEARS TO CONTINUE THIS PRACTICE.

****PARKING: If you choose to drive your car to this event, please note that parking MAY be limited this year due to construction vehicles at the Registration Area at the corner of Bruce Road & Hwy. 32. We should have enough room, but you never know.

****RESULTS: Results will be available the night of the event - probably late though as I have a family, responsibilities, so on and so forth. Sierra Nevada Brewery, again, will NOT have the Gift Cards ready for the winners until Monday, October 6th, 2014 - this gives them time to prepare the gift cards, etc. Please....no whining and most certainly don't give the Brewery any grief!!

****For the men, the rider MUST beat their age in order to win a $35 Gift Card from Sierra Nevada Brewery. So, if you are a 49-year-old man, you need to get a 48:59 or quicker in order to win the gift card.

****For the women, we instituted a 6-minute rule years & years ago.....so, if you are a 49-year-old woman, you must beat 49+6 = 55 minutes......or 54:59 or quicker.

"What if I am a 55-year-old man and I get a 55:00 in the Time Trial - do I win the $35 Gift Card from Sierra Nevada??"

Sorry...no Gift Card. MUST beat your age outright. Remember - this is a low-key event and we do this for fun, fitness and trying a new(or recurring) challenge!

"Rodney, I'm 28-years-old....there is NO way I am going to win a $35 Gift Card from Sierra Nevada. Why do this event??"

This is one of the most epic local "races" on the calendar and has been going on for the last 35 years!! AND - it's FREE TO ENTER!! Come on out and give it a shot. Set goals for yourself for next year - and the years to come!! Many many riders have done this event through the years and use it as a gauge for fitness and fastness. ;)

And, a final note, please.....no whining. This is a FREE event -  myself and the other volunteers & sponsors do this for free and for fun. We don't have time or energy to listen/put up with whining. Anyone giving grief to myself, our sponsors, or any volunteer - in any way - will be disqualified immediately. I can't stress the following point enough - ANYONE CAUGHT GIVING GRIEF TO SIERRA NEVADA BREWERY WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY DISQUALIFIED AND BANNED FROM ALL FUTURE FOREST RANCH TIME TRIALS!!!!

**ONE SMALL FINAL NOTE - There have been many suggestions in the last 14 years that we start this race at the bottom of Humboldt Road instead of busy Hwy. 32, to allow more room for registration, quieter start, no traffic, easier to hear, etc. This is being considered for 2015, but no decisions have been made yet. Let me know your thoughts - RodneyJCox@gmail.com.
